CCTV: We noticed that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the other day that the Global Development Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is of great significance in promoting global equality and balanced, sustainable development, adding that the UN fully supports it and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in this regard. Do you have any comment?

Wang Wenbin: The compounded impacts of once-in-a-century pandemic and changes have put the international development cause at a crossroads. To rise up to the global development challenges, President Xi Jinping solemnly put forward the Global Development Initiative at the general debate of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. This initiative follows a people-centered approach as the core principle, pursues practical cooperation as the guidance, and upholds openness and inclusiveness as the idea for partnership. It calls on the international community to speed up the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, pursue more robust, greener and more healthy global development, and build a global community of development with a shared future. The Global Development Initiative draws a blueprint for international development cooperation, and charts the course for advancing global development cause.

This important initiative of President Xi Jinping is warmly received by the international community. Developing countries have actively supported and echoed the initiative, and many developed countries have also welcomed and recognized the philosophy and areas of cooperation it advocates. It is widely believed that this major initiative will help build global synergy, accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and bring global development to a new stage of balanced, coordinated and inclusive development. So far, dozens of countries and many international organizations have expressed their support for or made positive statements on the initiative. All parties said that the core development philosophy and principles embodied in the initiative demonstrate China’s moral power in today’s world and has injected strong impetus into the efforts to accelerate development in developing countries for common prosperity. They expressed the willingness to have exchanges and cooperation with China to jointly promote the implementation of the initiative.

The Global Development Initiative is open to the world and welcomes the participation of all countries. Guided by the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, China is ready to work with all countries to practice true multilateralism and make unremitting efforts and new contributions to accelerating the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Xinhua News Agency: Data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on Sunday showed that China's total imports and exports in the first 10 months of 2021 increased 31.9 percent from a year earlier. Some analysts said this fully demonstrates the vitality and resilience of the Chinese economy and testifies to China’s determination and outcomes in unswervingly building an open economy. Do you have any comment?

Wang Wenbin: As you said, in the first ten months of 2021, China's total imports and exports grew 31.9 percent in US dollar terms and maintained a double-digit gain. Imports and exports increased significantly between China and its major trading partners, including ASEAN, the EU, the US and Japan. Robust growth was also recorded in China’s exports and imports with countries along the Belt and Road. I noted that recent statistics from the Chinese side show that paid-in foreign investment in the previous three quarters reached 859.51 billion yuan, up 19.6 percent year on year, and the vast majority of foreign companies in China are fully confident in the future. All this speaks volumes about the vitality and resilience of China’s economy and the ever deepening economic integration between China and the world.

We always believe that only when countries develop together can there be true development; only when countries prosper together can there be true prosperity. As for China, we will not change our resolve to open wider at a high standard; we will not change our determination to share development opportunities with the rest of the world; and we will not change our commitment to an economic globalization that is more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial for all. China will further optimize imports and exports, shorten the negative list for foreign investment, revise and enlarge the Catalogue of Encouraged Industries for Foreign Investment, take an active and open attitude in negotiations in such areas as the digital economy, trade and the environment. In these ways, we will bring more new opportunities for the world, inject fresh impetus into the world economy and help it to achieve higher-quality, more resilient development.

China Review News: It is reported that an official of the Taiwan region’s foreign affairs department said recently that Taiwan is following closely the presidential elections in Honduras and will strengthen communication with the ruling and opposition parties in Honduras to prevent the mainland from undermining their relationship through all means. Do you have any comment?

Wang Wenbin: There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The one-China principle is a universally recognized norm of international relations and universal consensus of the international community. Upholding the one-China principle is the overriding trend with strong popular support. We want to admonish the Taiwan authorities that “Taiwan independence” leads to a dead end, “dollar diplomacy” is rejected by all, and all attempts to reverse the historical trend by soliciting foreign support are bound to fail.

CRI: Two terrorist attacks took place in succession in Tillaberi Region of Niger the other day, killing more than 80 people, including the mayor of Banibangou district. What is China’s comment?

AFP: A satellite image from the US shows that China has built mockups in the shape of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and destroyers, possibly as training targets, in the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang. Can you confirm that?

Wang Wenbin: I’m not aware of the situation you mentioned.

Beijing Media Group: The Iraqi Prime Minister’s residence inside Baghdad’s Green Zone was hit by a drone attack early on November 7 local time, according to reports. Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi of the Iraqi caretaker government was unhurt. What is China’s comment?

Wang Wenbin: China condemns the attack on the Iraqi Prime Minister’s residence. The political process of Iraq is now at a critical juncture. China hopes all parties of Iraq can strengthen solidarity, and jointly maintain national security and stability.

Bloomberg: The Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has picked a critic of China’s treatment of the Uyghur ethnic group to be his aide for human rights. The Prime Minister will select Gen Nakatani to be his special adviser on human rights, according to a Japanese government spokesman who spoke with reporters on Monday. Does the Foreign Ministry have any comment on the appointment of Mr. Nakatani as the special adviser to the Japanese Prime Minister?

Wang Wenbin: I noted relevant reports. I will not comment on the personnel arrangement of the Japanese government, which falls under Japan’s domestic affairs. What I want to point out is that China’s internal affairs allow no foreign interference.
